This two day workshop will take place at Pyramid Atlantic Art Center in Hyattesville, MD. It will include the use of an individual hot box, a basic palette of encaustic wax, as well as a variety of tools and found materials useful for mark making in monotype. Instruction will include the use of stamps, masks and stencils, subtractive and additive mark making, and the variants of heat, paper, and encaustic wax in the monotype process.
As the 2017 catalog for Pyramid Atlantic has not yet been sent to the press, this notice is simply a courtesy for prospective students who may want to hold the date.
The fee Pyramid will be setting for the Encaustic Monotype Weekend is not available to me at this time.
In addition there will be a $60 materials fee for a selection of papers, encaustic paints, handmade graphite paint sticks, a selection of R and F paints and clear heat resistant Duralar to make stencils, as well as the use of all tools available in the studio).
Each student must purchase 12″x19″ Sumi-e paper and two colors of encaustic paint (student’s choice).
The Encaustic Monotype workshop will be limited to 6 participants. The hours will be 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM. It will take place at the new Pyramid Art Center at 4318 Gallatin Street, Hyattsville, MD 20781 (phone: (301) 608-9101).
