In these classes students 11-14 of age explore a range of drawing and water-based media each session. Oil pastels, charcoal and chalk, conte crayon, graphite, inks, soft pastel, colored pencils, and traditional watercolor are just a few of the art processes in which the students are instructed. Still life compositions, botanical studies, self portraits, interiors and landscapes all challenge participants to see in new ways.
The instructional content of this class is appropriate for middle school students preparing to apply to the Visual Art Center (VAC) at Einstein High School (the Montgomery County MD visual arts magnet). The classes are held on Tuesdays from 3:30PM – 5:30PM in the Takoma Park Community Center and are offered through the Takoma Park Recreation Department.
